Reaction
Reaction time test: color, sound, compare inputs
Reaction check in the browser: green or beep, go/no-go, a target circle, official five and input compare. Early input is a false start.
What this reaction test can do
- Random wait, then a full-pad green flash or a beep
- Time in milliseconds from the signal paint
- False start, go/no-go hold, and a random target circle
- Official five, input compare, and Space-then-mouse
- Best, average and a hits chart
- Mouse, touch, Space / Enter, gamepad and fullscreen
How to test reaction time online
Start
Click the pad or press Space. It stays red while you wait.
Wait
Do not click yet. The delay is random so you cannot count it down.
Click on green
As soon as the pad turns green, click or press Space.
Read the time
The result is in ms. Official five gives a round average. Compare splits mouse, keys, touch and pad.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good reaction time?
For a simple visual click, many people land around 200–250 ms. Under 200 ms is fast; over 350 ms is on the slow side for this kind of test.
Why did it say too soon?
You clicked while the pad was still waiting. That try is discarded so a lucky guess does not look like a fast reaction.
Is this a lab measurement?
No. It uses the browser clock after the signal. Display lag, OS scheduling and the input device all add a little time.
Can I use the keyboard or a gamepad?
Yes. Space or Enter works like a click. A gamepad button also counts. Compare and Space-then-mouse lock which input is valid on go.
