Frequently asked questions
How do I convert kilometers to miles?
Multiply kilometers by 0.621371: 10 km ≈ 6.21 miles. The reverse is miles × 1.60934. Both pairs are under “Length”.
How is temperature converted?
With exact formulas: °F = °C × 9/5 + 32, and kelvin is °C + 273.15. Values below absolute zero are rejected.
How many kilograms are in a pound?
1 pound = 0.453592 kg. For example, 10 lb ≈ 4.54 kg. Pick “Weight” and the kg–lb pair.
Are data units based on 1000 or 1024?
IEC binary prefixes: 1 KiB = 1024 B, 1 MiB = 1024 KiB (not SI decimal KB/MB).
Which categories does the converter support?
18: length, weight, volume, temperature, speed, data, area, time, pressure, energy, angle, frequency, power, force, fuel economy, density, torque and bitrate.
How do I find the right category?
Open the category dropdown and start typing — the converter matches names, e.g. “length” or “pressure”.
Can I convert between categories?
No — conversion needs matching dimensions. Length to weight has no meaning; pick units within one category.
How accurate are the results?
Conversion uses exact factors; you control displayed decimals. If rounding would show zero for a non-zero value, significant digits are used instead.
