Translit online — Cyrillic to Latin
Transliterate Russian to Latin and back online. For a nickname, page address or document, without sending the text.
Paste text and pick “Write in Latin letters” or “Write in Cyrillic”. Modes work before you type: you can select Latin first, then paste Cyrillic.
The mapping is practical for a nickname and a slug: й becomes j, ы becomes y, hard and soft signs stay. It is not GOST 7.79 and not ICAO passport translit. For a visa, check the agency table.
The same tool changes case: sentence, title, UPPER, snake_case. The text stays in the browser.
Russian щ becomes shch in the common passport-style map, and й becomes y. е and ё both often become e, so the reverse step cannot know which one you meant. A soft sign ь is sometimes dropped and sometimes written as '. This page opens the case tool on the Latin transliteration mode. It does not translate meaning: мир becomes mir, not peace. The glossary page names the systems; this one runs a single practical map on your text.
FAQ
Is the text uploaded?
No. Everything runs in the browser.
Why not buttons named To Latin?
The UI labels are “Write in Latin letters” and “Write in Cyrillic”.
Is the reverse path exact?
For this mapping, yes: й and ы do not collapse. Someone else’s translit that used y for both cannot be reversed uniquely.
